ECDIS Training

All bridge officers on vessels which have ECDIS as the primary means of navigation are required to complete two types of ECDIS training:

      Generic ECDIS Training
      Type-specific ECDIS Training

Generic ECDIS training is based on IMO Model Course 1.27 and approved by the relevant Maritime Administration.  The recommended course length is 40 hours and is delivered by colleges, training centres or mobile training company.

Type-specific ECDIS training is given by the ECDIS manufacturer or his authorized representative.

We can assist shipowners with these training obligations by offering:

Type specific training in Navmaster ECDIS

We offer a computer-based training course which will enable our customers to comply with the STCW requirement that all watchkeeping officers must have type-specific training in the ECDIS they use.  Please click here for a brochure.

Generic ECDIS Training

We have partnerships with approved training centres, and can make course bookings for you.  Three centres are in UK, one in Istanbul and more locations will be added.  We also offer a DNV-approved mobile course which provides a classroom of 10 at your preferred location.  Please email us for further details.

Combined Generic and Navmaster type-specific Training

In Southampton UK, Newcastle UK, Lowestoft UK and Istanbul, a combined approved training course is offered, delivering both types of ECDIS training in one 5-day course.  This combined course can also be brought to your offices as a mobile DNV-approved unit.

For colleges and training centres, we offer a networkable ECDIS training system to deliver all the practical elements of IMO Model Course 1.27.  More information
