PC Maritime has supplied First Choice Holidays cruise ship "Island Escape" with the latest version 5 of Navmaster Professional, an electronic chart system developed to the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display & Information System) specification.
"Navmaster is working very well," said Dawid Kowalski, navigator on Island Escape. "We have three displays on the bridge where we can monitor Navmaster. One display is on the central console and one at each of the bridge wings where Navmaster becomes the main navigational aid during manoeuvres.
We have cameras on each wing showing the stern view of the ship which can be overlaid onto the Navmaster chart. When manoeuvring from one side of the ship, we now have a continuous view of what's happening at the other side in relation to our position - navigational limitations, hazards, traffic etc. "
Navmaster Professional helps navigators to plan and monitor routes, produce passage plan documentation and maintain corrected electronic charts. The system can also generate alarms and warnings in line with ECDIS criteria and display AIS information on electronic charts. A Type Approved version with accompanying hardware will be available in 2005.

Navmaster Professional used onboard the cruise ship Island Escape for position-monitoring and for displaying images from stern-veiw cameras when manoeuvring
