Marine software company PC Maritime has developed a stand-alone AIS Viewer (Automatic Identification System)
product to provide an affordable traffic monitoring system for smaller ports, and for other organisations
with an interest in monitoring local vessel movements.
Packaged together with an economical UAIS receiver and antenna, Navmaster AIS Viewer provides harbour authorities with the ability to monitor vessel traffic on electronic charts and obtain vital information such as vessels' name, call sign, MMSI number, position etc.
The Navmaster AIS Viewer software can be installed on standard PCs with MS Windows and is straightforward to use. Targets tracked are unlimited and information can be filtered between dynamic data (eg position, COG/SOG, rate of turn), static data (MMSI, type of ship, length & beam etc) and voyage data (cargo details, destination, ETA etc). All data is continuously recorded and there is a powerful replay facility in case further analysis is required.
An efficient, simple solution for ports and harbour authorities with restricted budgets, PC Maritime's AIS Viewer is compatible with raster and vector charts (ARCS, ENC, C-Map CM93) and is easy to self-install.
PC Maritime has also added AIS capability to its Navmaster product range. Existing customers can add the facility via a simple software upgrade. New customers can opt for AIS as an addition to Navmaster Professional, Navmaster Workboat and Navmaster Superyacht, or install the software as a stand-alone system on vessels already fitted with ECDIS to provide a visual AIS display.
